Dental Materials and Implants

Dental adhesives, amalgams, porcelains, polymers and ceramics undergo testing in vitro to determine their performance for use in restorative and prosthetic dentistry. Dental implants are fatigue tested to determine their long term performance when implanted within the oral cavity. Here are a small sample of our solutions for testing of dental materials and implants.

Orthopaedics & Devices for Osteosynthesis

Instron® has considerable experience of mechanical testing in orthopaedics: from basic static testing of raw materials, to impact loading of joint components, through to complete simulation for evaluating the fatigue and wear properties in vivo. Through every phase of implant development, our solutions meet a vast array of demands found within the orthopaedics field. These include hip and knee implants, spinal devices, and medical devices for trauma and osteosynthesis.

Choice Inputs with Linked Values Bluehill Universal

Choice inputs provide users with a preconfigured list of options that minimize data entry time and reduce the risk of error for commonly used inputs, such as operator name, color or specimen type. Additionally, each choice can be linked with other parameters, such as test rate or dimensions.

Consumer Electronics Segment Flyer

In today’s fast moving and ever-evolving consumer electronics market, competition forces OEMs to constantly push the boundaries of innovation to deliver smaller, thinner, and lighter products, without sacrificing quality or safety. Being able to measure various parameters that simulate user operations, such as the force required to press a button or how much a phone can bend before the screen cracks, is critical in understanding the user-experience, strength, and durability of many consumer electronic products.

Microelectronics Segment

As consumer demand for smaller, thinner, and more flexible electronic devices continues to grow, OEMs must constantly push the boundaries of innovation. Compact and increasingly complex electronic devices have forced manufacturers and their supply chains to use high density packaging and to miniaturize sub-level components, which increases the risk of mechanical failure and can impact the quality of products reaching the consumer.

ISO 11040 4 Fixtures for Testing Prefilled Glass Syringes

Pre-filled glass syringes are most commonly tested to ISO 11040-4. As glass syringes are more susceptible to failure than plastic syringes, a wider variety of tests are required to be performed on them. Within ISO 11040-4 there are a total of 10 annexes, each requiring a different mechanical test. All fixtures are compatible with the Torsion Add-On for 5900 systems, as some of the annexes require simple rotation.
